Wire manufacturers may face fines for price fixing, collusion

According to a report in Engineering News, the Competition Commission has recommended that the Competition Tribunal impose an administrative penalty of 10% on each of the 11 companies identified in a wire manufacturing and distribution collusion, based on their respective annual turnovers for the preceding financial year. Commission seeks record fine for Pioneer Foods

The Competition Commission has urged the Competition Tribunal to impose the maximum penalty on Pioneer Foods for its bread cartel activities. According to a Sake24 report, the group could be fined 10% of its annual turnover of R9bn – the biggest fine yet imposed for uncompetitive behaviour. (more…)
