Consumer Protection Advice
South Africa’s landmark Consumer Protection Act came into effect on 1 April 2011. The Act, which is the first legislation of its kind in South Africa, codifies much of the common law in relation to the rights of consumers and establishes a single, comprehensive legal framework for consumer protection. Consumers need to learn their rights, and suppliers of goods and services around the country need to ensure they are compliant with the Act.
